Among PC strategy games Galactic Dream is one of a kind!
"Playing many real-time strategy games over the years, I've come to appreciate the subtleties of 3D mapping and various overlays found throughout the worlds of the games. I'm also a fan of games that require a bit of skill, strategic thinking and wherewithal to excel in. To that end, Galactic Dream: Rage of War really grabbed my attention from day one. The straightforward nature of the layout is a crowd pleaser. Everyone can enjoy the clever humor, huge battles and quick action.
Strategy games always have a special place in the hearts of thinkers, so I can see why Rage of War has a lot of buzz surrounding it. Since the explosion of seemingly 'alien' technology in the past decade, the graphics aren't as pristine as newer real-time strategy games, but I simply think the developers were going for that 'classic' look and feel.
Although the game controls are set up in a drag-it and drop-it, simplistic system, it's still a bit different from games like video poker. So if you've never played a real-time strategy game before, Rage of War might be a bit tricky at the start. I honed my strategy early and decided which race I would take out and remove the units' special abilities. I was from my home world and into deep space fairly quick; but I found I didn't build rapidly enough and had to backtrack. The game really starts to pick up after the first few missions.
There are different modes in the game, like the Custom Game, which can be much more action-packed, with multiple threats to keep you occupied. Unless you're a real-time strategy game expert, you'll definitely get a run for your money when the enemies show up unannounced. The AI throws a lot of units in there, and unless you're watching from all angles, you'll have a tough time outbuilding and out-battling the enemy. As far as stacking up to other real-time strategy games, I say Rage of War definitely trumps a lot of the field. Unless you're spoiled by the huge developers' '09 releases, this game is near the top of the 'to play' list. Regards, Seda.
" When Rage of War loads, one could see clearly the resemblances between it and StarCraft, like I did the first time I entered the game on my pc. I have played many strategic games along the years, but Galactic Dream continues to amaze me with its simplicity. This war strategy game has one of the toughest computer i've seen so far in war strategy games! Usually, in strategy games war is fought with complex orders, headache unit abilities and stuborn minions that ignore the basic rules of pathfinding. Not in this strategy game! Here everything is simple, like in the good old days and yet your units will advance in levels and will gather resources automatically, things not available in old computer strategy games.
The games strategy is simple but amazes through its accessability and attention to details of the developers. And it fels that you're really in an epic galactic war. After about 40 minutes of playing and experimenting , i could see what the game is capable in real time (i must admit i'm usually a fan of turn base strategies.
The war strategy game which brought back the nostalgia of playing StarCraft till morning, satisfied me with its clean single player campaign and also angried me for many times, when the nasty aliens almost got me.
I felt somehow bound to the fate of the little terans.. and i lost meny men in my battle for survival!! i was becaming Lewis and i was not to be stopped until i have brough my people to safety. When the mornign came i was at the mission 22, when i decided i need to take some rest. This game caught me deeply and i was so affected about MOM turning against us that i was swearing out loud in my room. This is funny i know, but i needed to share this so you ca see how addicted your war strategy game can be.
I wish to thank you and your company for this wonderful strategy game. Please excuse my poor english and the exagerate use of the word strategy in my humble reviev, but i tought was important. I really can't get enough of strategy games.
Anyway, the easiest way to learn this game is to play its campaign or you can read the manual. But i recomand the strategy war tutorial: i had so much fun with the hilarious unit voices like in no other space strategy games! Sometimes, i completely forget i was fighting my enemy in the game, clicking my units or controls and see what theyl say next. Hahaha, you really have to hear it, to know what i talking about!
I just want to say that other strategic games are so... strategic, while Rage of War is simple and complex at the same time. Simple becos you just hop in to the battle, and complex becos it allows you to build units very fast and simultanous at multiple buildings; you can also move units and buildings in space at the same time.
Well, I'm done writing! It's 7:13AM, a beautiful day outside and i'm going to sleep. Funny, right? Anyway, Space Force cadet Rik3r over and out. I wish you guys al the best and may you entertain us with iven more strategy games on pc in the future. " Aaa, one more thing: i noticed in the space game manual, at the end, written: "In the memory of Elena..." i'll drink to that! However she is, she would've been proud... Yours truly, Rik3r. God bless! "
